35. Guarded by the Spider

By Cassie Alexander (346 pp, ebook)

I have heard of these monster romances and thought I would check one out and sorry, not for me. No judgement! I think people should read and enjoy whatever they want but this was too much for me. There's a man-spider bodyguard sent to retrieve a kidnapped billionaire's daughter who they assume is dead. She is not and she and the bodyguard have to escape danger while being super hot for each other. Somehow it turned out I was always reading the super steamy stuff on the bus.

34. Love Lettering

By Kate Clayborn (303 pp, ebook)

Another contemporary romance. In this one Meg is become local famous for doing hand-lettered planners and journals. She used to do wedding materials and as the book opens, the groom, Reid, from her last job comes in with the wedding program and asks her how she knew his marriage would fail. Pretty good opening, huh. He ended up not getting married and they slowly get to know each other. Then there's a big dramatic thing that they have to overcome if they will end up together. I liked this one - there is some wonderful friendship stuff and great setting in NYC.

33. Spoiler Alert

By Olivia Cade (409 pp, ebook)

This is another contemporary romance and I loved the beginning. It's about a super famous actor in a fantasy tv series who after a social media kerfluffle asks a fan on a date. The fan, April, is a woman who write fan fic and does cosplay. The set up is so fun but the longer it went on, the most angsty and dramatic everything got. By the end it was hard to root for the main characters. Still, I would read this author again. There was some fun dialogue and characterization in there.
